The Turbo buttons of old did the opposite of what this one is doing.

It’s backwards or forwards depending on how you wire it. I remember back then our old 386, “button out” was actually Turbo on.

yep. a lot of DOS software (especially games) set their internal timing on the assumption they were running on a 4.77 MHz 8088.
